The Wanderer
September 11, 2023
Through the ocean waves
And this dystopia
I walked a long mile
Blurred in myopia
The city's blistering
In a thickened atmosphere
With too much fume
Where nothing seems clear
My body could not take
One more second of gloom
And so I decide to wander
Into the outside bloom
The forests sang
As I walked across
With the gusting wind
Throwing me at loss
It was getting darker
And I could not see
But once I made my stop
There's a deathly gap I see
Between this giant gap
I saw her standing there
With a menacing look
That I could not bear
She did not talk
She did not move
She just stood there
And watched me transmove
I turned back around
And went back to shore
I still felt her eerie presence
Oozing through me more
It was still dark
And the wind kept pushing
But I prevailed through it all
Desolately surpassing
The day got colder
The wind grew bolder
The freeze is on my shoulder
And my vision becomes older
I made it back home
My limbs all decaying
The rain starts to pour
And the skies are graying
Here I sit in the warm
Next to the fireplace
My day is over
And I rest in grace
